Cold Connections—Wire and Tube Rivets

Cold Connections is the art of combining two or more pieces of metal without the use of heat. Get innovative using alternative methods to create art objects and jewelry. In this workshop you’ll create your design, cut your pattern and use several techniques in assemblage for cold connections. You will learn the basics of riveting, and will spend time exploring sawing, texture, drilling, hammering and forming techniques. We will experiment with various patina techniques to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your metals. This workshop will include all materials and consumables; students are welcome to bring their own tools and/or found objects to explore with. Basic Metalsmithing experience is recommend to receive the full benefits of this workshop however it’s not required. Let’s get creative!
